(The Ten Commandments.... of AMP Concerts)
1. Time. The music will start promptly as scheduled. You won't want
to miss a minute, so it is recommended that you arrive early to enjoy
cocktail hour and to get settled before the music starts. Tickets
must be presented at the door/gate. The music will play rain or shine,
so an alternative venue will be announced in the event of rain.
2. Dress down – way, way down. There is no dress code. T-shirts
are standard concert attire and should be untucked at the door.
3. Think Alternative. Don’t expect to hear any music that
you recognize.
4. Picnic (BYOBeverages). Plan on five to six hours of live music
at our spring and fall events. You should bring snacks and beverages
unless otherwise indicated. Advance notice will be given if there
will be any food or beverage concessions. Alcoholic beverages are
allowed at the zoo and at the Red River Amphitheater. Please note,
however, that glass containers are not allowed. Also, and most importantly,
if you choose to drink alcohol, you must be at least 21 years of
age, drink responsibly and bring a designated driver.
5. Clean Up. Please make an effort to deposit all rubbish in trash
cans to be located on the premises.
6. Bring friends. One of the big goals of AMP is to cultivate an
audience. Each member will receive four tickets to each of the main
spring and fall events, so that means bring a date and two friends.
If you are unable to find a date and/or two friends, please let
us know in advance in order that we may give your extra tickets
to someone more popular.
7. Mating Season. Springtime is mating season at the zoo, so certain
portions of the zoo may be closed at that time. For any springtime
events at the zoo, please try to stay close to the stage area and
avoid venturing into closed areas or near the gorilla cage, unless
you are available.
8. Dance and scream. A concert is a give and take situation. The
band will play better and longer if they know they are appreciated.
That means rush the stage, dance, yell, dance, whistle, dance, hold
a flaming lighter in the air, and scream for an encore.
9. Buy CDs. Each band will be selling its own CDs. You will want
to buy one. So bring an extra $20.00 or so to buy a CD or two and
to support these musicians (who depend on CD sales to feed themselves).
10. Enjoy. Everything else is fair game, so lighten up and enjoy
the music while you still can! |
